With a week to spare, my new francaise is ready for its first wearing next Saturday. I have some more construction details to share but for now I'll leave you with a sneak peek of the finished dress, as well as a picture of one of two new additions to our kitty household.
It ended up being a bit too big, but I've decided not to let it bother me for now. Taking it apart to refit it would require a lot more work than I have time for this week, and since I plan to wear it for Costume College, I will refit it if needed for the next outing. I'd much rather have a slightly too big dress finished the week before the event, than spend this week scrambling to get it perfect. I'm lazy that way. Also, as you can probably tell, I decided not to trim it as originally planned. The fabric is just so gorgeous on its own and I love the elegant simplicity of the dress undecorated. I have plenty of fabric left, so I may trim it for a later event.
