When she first mentioned it, I told myself I didn’t have any appropriate fabric in the stash and I had plenty of project ideas to keep me busy for the next year. I could resist, right? But then I made the fatal mistake of looking for images. No harm in browsing, in learning a bit more about the style, expanding my knowledge of the period. Lies. The minute I saw this beauty I was a goner.
So this is what I’m making for the 2014 Costume College Gala. Swatches and samples have been ordered. I’ll be starting from scratch with this project – new stays, hoop, petticoat, dress, and wig. If I’m honest, I’m really looking forward to another giant project. I was feeling a bit lost with no big events until next Costume College, but a major project gives me direction and focus. If all goes as planned, I hope to thoroughly document my research and progress, so look for those posts in the future.
